Waste Management Applications

The VWS SMART TAG is an approved high quality transponder chip for the identification and registration of waste and recycling bins. Waste data at the point of collection is made possible by fitting a SMART TAG into the chip-nest under the comb bar. This enables the tag to be almost invisible and also offers long-term protection. The tag is fixed to each waste container and is automatically read during the normal lifting and tipping process.

Waste Management operators can choose from a broad spectrum of LF, HF and UHF passive contactless transponders to suit their activities. With a selection of SMART TAGS available, each offering a varying level of resistance to water, chemicals, shock, and temperature, there is a solution for every operation. We have solutions for both metal and plastic bins and all RFID SMART TAGS link seamlessly with our ENVIROWEIGH bin weighing system and PurGo waste management software.

RFID SMART TAG Reader

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the VWS SMART TAG READER features a patient-applied-for stainless steel housing, helping to ensure longevity, even when used with metal bins. The reader can be with other manufacturers' bin weighers, but when used in conjunction with the VWS ENVIROWEIGH bin weighing system, the SMART TAGS have a successful read accuracy rate of 99.8%

ENVIROWEIGH is an approved dynamic bin weighing system which records individual bin weights with an accuracy of +/- 0.5%. he smart bin weighing system can be fitted to most types of RCV lifting hoist and the weight of the container contents is recorded during a normal lift cycle with no need to stop the lifter. ENVIROWEIGH can be trade approved and used for pay-by-weight services. In addition to this, the system can be seamlessly integrated with our waste management software solution: PurGo. Using RFID SMART TAGS enables operators to record what is being collected and how much and this data can be printed out, saved to a memory device or accessed remotely using our connected systems.

Fleet Management Applications

RFID SMART TAGS can be used in a variety of ways in fleet management. They can be programmed to incorporate identification data before they are fitted to vehicles or other assets, often by discreet and non-damaging self-adhesive means. The RFID tags can then be wirelessly interrogated by VWS SMART TAG readers and depending upon the type and frequency of the tags, they can be read at varying distances from each other to suit the operation. They can be used as a method of recording vehicle utilisation, vehicle weight when passing over a weigh bridge or for charging on toll roads or controlled areas.

Farming & Agriculture Applications

Many countries have now introduced mandatory tracking of cattle and other animals using RFID so they can be traced in the event of an outbreak of disease or theft. In addition to this, some companies are now using the technology to help improve their efficiency, controls and traceability. By using VWS SMART TAGS, they are able to control feeding schedules, animal access into certain areas, medical observations and treatment and secure their livestock.
