London-based Westminster Waste Ltd has just ordered its third refuse collection vehicle (RCV) equipped with bin-weighing equipment to enhance its Pay By Weight service. In future bin weighing technology will be part of the standard specification for all new vehicles on the companys fleet.
Westminster Waste took delivery of its first RCV last year, a Euro 6 DAF CF 440 FAX 8×2 chassis fitted with the ENVIROWEIGH bin-weighing system from Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS). Known for its high level of accuracy NVIROWEIGH is also weights & measures approved so it can be used for Pay By Weight services. A second bin-weighing ready vehicle was purchased soon after as part of the companys ongoing vehicle replacement programme to upgrade the fleet with the latest Euro 6 compliant trucks.

ENVIROWEIGH integrates with vehicle CCTV and telemetry systems, to enable remote monitoring and for the collection of data. It provides a real-time solution to such issues as uncollected bin queries and re-routing the truck for an urgent collection.

ENVIROWEIGH can also be used in conjunction with PurGo software for a fully integrated bin-weighing solution. PurGo has been designed specifically for waste management operators to streamline processes from Sales through to perations including route scheduling, admin, billing and reporting, and uses technology such as in-cab PDAs.
